Baby Gravely Hurt In Beating, No Arrests Made

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (CBS13) ― Detectives are investigating the severe beating of a baby girl that left her clinging to life in a hospital.

The 16-month-old girl, Violet, was brutally attacked at her home last week in Nevada County, suffering injuries so severe she had to be airlifted to Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento.

Violet is under heavy sedation and is in critical condition, with three holes in her intestine, a smashed appendix and even human teeth marks on her body.

"I'm scared for her," said the girl's mother, who asked not to be identified. "I'm scared for her because she can't fight back."

The girl's mother said she doesn't wasn't at home at the time of the attack and doesn't know what happened to Violet. She took her baby to the hospital when she noticed that child's stomach bloating -- doctors say it was from internal bleeding.

She said she lives with a close family member in Grass Valley and has a boyfriend that visits often.

Tom Farmer, Violet's biological father, has been ruled out as a suspect and is desperate for authorities to find out who attacked his daughter.

"I want the Nevada County detectives to speed up the process and place someone in jail for what they've done to my daughter," Farmer said.

No arrests have yet been made, and nobody has been identified as a suspect or person of interest.
