Thousands Without Power In Foothills

Thousands of people in the foothills are still without power this morning.

PG&E officials say Saturday's massive snow dump knocked power out to more than 18,000 customers in four counties. Those counties include El Dorado, Placer, Nevada and Sierra.

Some residents say it's been the longest outage that they have experienced, but are trying to deal with it the best that they can.

"So the refrigerator is getting too warm. The freezer is holding up pretty well, so we're making sure we cook here and get through some of the food," said one resident.

At around 8:30 a.m. an estimated 13,000 PG&E customers were without power resulting from 260 different outages.

The largest outages are in the vicinity of Banner Lava Cap Road south of Pittsburg Road in Grass Valley and in the vicinity of the 15000 Block of Shannon Way in Grass Valley.

PG&E says it hopes to have power back on before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Crews from all over the state are helping to restore power.
