Rats Living In Woodland School Roof

WOODLAND (CBS13) - Rats are causing quite the distraction in one local classroom.

Patrick Baird says rodents have destroyed the ceiling in his Woodland classroom.

There is a gaping hole covered by a large plastic sheet at one end of the classroom to prevent rodent droppings from dropping.

Students have moved to the other end to avoid the falling debris.

"It's creepy.  You hear them in this wall.  You hear them 'scratch, scratch'," said 7th Grade Teacher Patrick Baird.

Baird says he put in a request for the hole to be fixed to the Woodland Joint Unified School District four weeks ago.

After calls from the media, the district says it tracked the delay to a mistake.

A work order said repairs had already been completed.

In addition to getting the ceiling repaired the district say it will get an exterminator to the school right away.
