Authorities Detonate Object At Lincoln Landfill

LINCOLN, Calif. (CBS13) -- Authorities evacuated workers at a Lincoln landfill after an employee discovered an object labeled as "explosive."

The plastic-wrapped, 10 pound object was found by a sorter at the Western Placer Waste Management facility Tuesday afternoon.

Placer County authorities ordered workers to evacuate while they investigated.

Authorities dug a hole in a field away from structures and used a bomb squad robot to detonate the object safely.

Officials are now working to determine exactly what the object was.
