Police Witness Drive-By Shooting; Suspects Arrested

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A South Sacramento school was locked down while Sacramento police officers searched for a suspect in a drive-by shooting that was actually witnessed by the officers as they were patrolling the area Wednesday afternoon.

Sacramento gang detectives were working in the area of Emerson Road and Fruitridge when they witnessed the drive-by shooting and began chasing the suspect vehicle.

The suspects crashed after a short pursuit.

One suspect was taken into custody but another was initially able to evade capture on foot.  A few residents in the are have been evacuated and Earl Warren Elementary School is on lockdown as a precaution.

Police later reported that all suspects were apprehended near Emerson and 71st Street.
