BART Cop Fired After '09 Shooting Gets Job Back

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A police officer who was fired over her involvement in the fatal shooting of an unarmed man on an Oakland train platform is getting her job back.

Bay Area Rapid Transit officials fired Officer Marysol Domenici in March, acting on a law firm's recommendation. The firm found that she lied to investigators and in court when asked about the New Year's Day 2009 shooting of Oscar Grant.

But arbitrator William Riker ruled Friday that Domenici should be reinstated because the law firm did not adequately investigate allegations that she had lied.

Domenici was working alongside Officer Johannes Mehserle at the BART station responding to reports of fighting on a train when the shooting happened.

Mehserle was convicted in July of involuntary manslaughter in Grant's death.
