Car Crashes Into Home, Causes Gas Leak

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Six condominium units in Sacramento County had to be evacuated Wednesday afternoon after a car slammed into the side of a home and hit a natural gas main.

The incident happened at 5227 Andrea Blvd. at around 11:30 a.m., say Sacramento Metro Fire officials. It appears the driver lost control and drove into the home, causing the gas line to break.

The exact cause of the crash is under investigation. So far, no witnesses have come forward; however, neighbors say they heard a loud bang. They also say there is a 4-way intersection nearby that nobody bothers to stop at.

The driver was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Andrea Boulevard was closed until PG&E crews were able to turn off the gas.
