Person Of Interest Sought In Rancho Cordova Murder

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. (CBS13) -- The search for a person of interest in the New Year's Day murder of a Rancho Cordova woman has led to a manhunt, authorities said.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies forcibly entered a Rancho Cordova apartment Sunday about a block away from where 37-year-old Rajeet Kor Singh was found dead on New Year's Day.

An unidentified person fled from authorities, triggering an hour-long search, but the manhunt was called off Sunday without any arrests, authorities said.

Singh was found only partially clothed just before 11:00 a.m. on January 1 and investigators determined she was the victim of a homicide.

Detectives released security footage from a card room on Folsom Boulevard that shows a person of interest investigators are hoping to speak to about Singh's disappearance. The man, described as a black male adult, was in the card room at the same time as Singh and was reported to be seen with her at some point during the night.

The man has not been identified as a suspect and authorities have not stated whether the man was the target of Sunday's police action.

Anyone with information on Singh's death or the location of the unidentified man is asked to contact Sheriff's homicide detectives by calling (916) 874-5115, or Crime Alert by calling (916) 443-HELP or texting 274637 with "SACTIP" at the beginning of the message.
