FRENCH CAMP (CBS13) – A San Joaquin County correctional officer is behind bars himself after being arrested on charges of smuggling contraband into a jail.

San Joaquin Co. Sheriff’s detectives arrested Correctional Officer Michael McCann while he was on the job at the San Joaquin County Jail.

He is accused of smuggling cell phones into the jail and giving them to inmates.

Investigators were first tipped off to allegations on January 3rd.

The Sheriff’s department says the investigation is ongoing and more charges against McCann are likely.

McCann has been an employee of the Sheriff’s Office since January 2002 and has been placed on Administrative Leave.

The dude is dirty and he jeopardized a lot of people. Ive been in Corrections for 27 years and this is the worse thing an officer can due is get involved with the criminals. As for Ralph, there’s no set up he’s an ass.

He was my son’s little league baseball coach a couple of years ago. While he had anger issues and was tossed off the field a lot, his compassion for the kids was never in question. Even when he moved to an opposing team, he still helped my son out with his swing in the middle of a game. He did wrong here, no question, but he isn’t a monster.

DC, nobody said he was a monster. When a staff member becomes involved with the inmates they place everybody they work with and the public in jeopardy. Corrections is a game, the inmates part is to turn one of us bad, our part is to not let it happen. this makes us loosers in the game and thats BS. The inmates use those cell phones to commit crimes against the public from inside.

Looks like they still haven’t uncovered/investigated ALL of the corruption that still exists at SJSO!

Want to hear about the felonies and corruption cops are still committing there behind closed doors? Just ask me! I know about it personally ater working there for over 5 years…ask them abut the unreported beatings of innocent people who did absolutely nothing to warrant assault! There is still one officer there who is GUILTY!!!!

WHEN will DOJ investigations uncover the TRUE DEPTH of corruption at SJSO and the related “community”?!!! It is TRULY a mess down there, except for maybe one or two people..but they wont say a thing!

He deserves to be behind bars, but what otehres did down there that is STILL under wraps would BLOW YOUR MIND!!!! Very powerful and wealthy families are still hiding uncovered felonies!!! This guy is just steam ff the pot of what REALLY boiling below the surface!!!

FBI and other Investigators need to investigate Internal Affairs personnel corruption at that office! Felonies being committed by law enforcement are still continuing unabated!
