Unattended Candles To Blame For Two Overnight Fires

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Unattended candles may be to blame for two overnight fires including one that sent a woman to the hospital.

The first blaze destroyed a duplex overnight in Carmichael on Brickwell and Battlewood ways.

Residents woke up to flames and rushed to get outside.

It took fire crews 15 minutes to get the fire under control.

No one was hurt in the fire.  Red cross is helping the displaced residents.

Another unattended candle is being blamed for a fire that sent a woman to the hospital in Rancho Cordova.

The woman, attempting to save her pets, was trapped between a side fence and the house in the10,000 block of Hirschfield Way.

She was rescued and taken to the hospital.

One of her dogs made it out safely, but another dog and a cat were killed in the flames.

No word on the woman's condition this hour.
