MERCED, Calif. (AP) -- Merced police are investigating a drive-by shooting that killed a teenage boy and injured two others.

Police say 14-year-old Ruben Hernandez of Merced was shot near a local elementary school Sunday night by suspects traveling in a dark-colored sedan.

Hernandez died after being flown to a Modesto hospital.

The Merced Sun Star reports that two other victims, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, also were shot and taken to Mercy Medical Center Merced. One of the victims has been released from the hospital.

Police have not made any arrests and have not identified a motive for the shooting.

The crime is the city's second homicide this year.
