Woman Killed, Girl Hurt In Foothill Farms Shooting

FOOTHILL FARMS, Calif. (CBS13) – The Sacramento County Coroner has identified a woman who deputies say was shot and killed by her husband on Sunday.

The coroner says the woman is 37-year-old Tiffany Marie Ohanlon.

Deputies were called to a Foothill Farms home after an 11-year-old girl ran to a neighbor's home on the 5300 block of Valparaiso Circle just after 11:00 a.m. on Sunday and said she had been shot in the upper arm by her father.

When deputies arrived at the scene, 36-year-old John Murdock Pierce tossed a "disassembled firearm" out of the front door of his house and surrendered to authorities, investigators said.  Ohanlon was found dead inside the home.

Pierce allegedly shot his daughter when she tried to stop him from tying up his wife, Ohanlon, and then shot the older woman in the head in front of his 5-year-old twin boys, who were uninjured in the incident.

The wounded girl was rushed to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives arrested Pierce on charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon after questioning him Sunday afternoon.
