Man Charged With Abducting Son

WASCO, Calif. (AP) -- Fresno County authorities say the father who prompted a statewide Amber Alert when he allegedly kidnapped his 10-month-old son has been charged with child abduction.

Sheriff's Deputy Chris Curtice says 19-year-old Edgar Ramos of Wasco was arrested early Monday at his parents' home in Kern County.

Authorities say Ramos took his son, Elijah Rivas, on Saturday from outside the child's mother's home in Riverdale. The mother had told him she had obtained a restraining order temporarily giving her sole custody of Elijah.

Ramos drove to his parents' home with his son and left with some friends in another car. His parents convinced him to come home on Sunday night and called authorities. The baby was found unharmed.

Curtice says Ramos is out of jail on $100,000 bail.
