In the real world, even though animals are cute and all, they are basically robots. These birds were “programmed” (trained) to fight. They cannot associate normally with other birds. As a commercial poultry farmer, real poultry raisers know that the biggest problem one has with raising chickens is that the roosters kill each other, it is their nature, that is what they do out in the wild. People involved with rooster fighting, use gaffs because it is more humane for the animals. In real life, a rooster will take all day even two days to kill another rooster, and they torture their foe continually, that is how they live in the natural jungle where they are from. Of course, city dwellers that lack any real knowledge in animal raising think that meat and chicken come in plastic wrap packages and they do not mind having the murdering done behind their back, as long as they do not know about it and they can purchase it at the store where the murdering is away from them. City dwellers pay others to do their murdering. Farmers go ahead and kill their own food.

If you were not raised with it I can understand why especially people that think all their food come from trees (pork chop apples and t-bone trees) have never seen the killing of animals for food.
