Gas Leak Closes Section Of Folsom Blvd

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A gas leak forced evacuations on several blocks in East Sacramento on Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities said a private contractor working for the city accidentally cut into a 2-inch gas line while laying fiber optic lines near Folsom Boulevard, forcing the closure of four blocks of the busy roadway from 35th Street to 39th Street.

Businesses and residences were evacuated for hours.

It took crews several hours, working into the night, to repair the leak and reopen the roadway.
