Man Who Brought Kings To Town Says ‘No Chance’ Another Team Will Come

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The man who brought the Kings to Sacramento says there’s “no shot” another NBA team will move here.

Gregg Lukenbill says the economic environment in Sacramento is at an all-time low.

And he had harsh words when asked about the current Kings owners of the Kings, the Maloof family.

“In the long haul they’re gonna come off looking like hit and run drivers. I mean they came in they hit, it went okay for a while, and then they bailed,” said Lukenbill.

The Maloofs have until April 18 to officially file for relocation.

Lukenbill helped move the kings to Sacramento in 1985.

He sold his stake in the team in 1992.

Even though I don’t care for basketball, what Mr.Lukenbill did for this region was fantastic. He is right about the Maloof’s,” looking like hit and run drivers ” ….. Well said. I always thought way back when the Maloof’s let peja stojakovic slip away that they were getting ready to ” get out of town “. That was just the start of the downhill slide. From that point on the Maloof’s let great player after great player slip away to other teams. Then replacing them with real bad players, and just as bad if not worse coaches. Then you see that the Maloof’s never updraded the arena that they owned. Another indication they were not staying. Leaving Sacramento has been in the making for years. Sorry to see the players go, but very happy to see the brothers Grimm leave town.
