As an adult, when working with young teenage girls you have to be very careful. Some come across as being very mature and seductive. Well, they maybe seductive but they are not mature. You as the adult have to make clear boundaries for these girls. You have to know that you are at risk of going to prison for any type of sexual misconduct. If fact, you have to protect yourself. 8484 is absolutely right! I have 16 year old twin girls and they are way to advanced for their age! I have had to remove my computers from my house because of way too many issues with these two. As a father of promiscuous girls I am ashamed of their actions but more to the point I am concerned at what in my lifestyle has allowed them to feel that it’s ok to flaunt themselves this way.

In California, statutory rape (called “unlawful sexual intercourse” in CA) only applies to minors UNDER the age of 16 or a minor more than 2 years younger than the adult and requires actual sexual intercourse. You are probably right in this case. But, age does not always correlate to mental maturity. We really do not know what went on between these two or who was really more responsible. We know who was legally responsible. But, that does not always bring about the truth of the situation.

This girl was a long time everton player. She new and trusted Art as a coach and advisor. Art was not just a coach. He was the director of Everton. He is very charismatic and influential. I new him personally and know that he was treated like a rock star by the young players. He was a pro soccer player and still plays on a semi pro team. My son looked up to him and I am grief stricken for his wonderful family. for the comments about the girl being responsible in some way I say shame on you!

There are many older female teachers that have also seduced young boys, the punishment should fit the crime. They should be just as accountable, if not more because they are in a teacher role. Although no one wins in a situation like this, the people I feel most sorry for (other than the young girl) are his wife and children. This man has a 15 year son (who probably attends the same school at this girl) and 2 young daughters. This case was not reported as a RAPE… If it were, that would be a different story. But if she is a willing participant, it is not ok for anyone, be it the minor, or her parents to gain financially.
