SAUSALITO, Calif. (AP) — A sea lion discovered with a gunshot wound to the face on a Sausalito beach has found a home at the San Francisco Zoo.

A spokesman for the Marine Mammal Center, where the animal named Silent Knight is currently being held and treated, says the transfer is expected to occur sometime next month.

The Marin Independent Journal reports that zoo officials are rebuilding a sea lion pool that is currently empty to accommodate Silent Knight and another sea lion, Henry.

Silent Knight — a 7-foot-long, 350-pound male — was found with about six metal buckshot pellets in its head on Swede’s Beach on Dec. 8. The shooting left it blind and unable to return to the wild.

Henry is also blind although it’s not clear how it was blinded.

The person who did this to this beautiful animal needs to be shot with pellets. How can people be so cruel? I hope this sea lion has a great life with his new friend. To the Marine Mammal Center, you are wonderful for saving this creature and all the work that you do. It must be so difficult to see the way that humans hurt these defenseless mammals.

Some people can be very cruel to animals and it is a mystery to me. Maybe they were abused by others when they were younger?

find them, punish them to maximum and have them perform hundreds of hours of community service.

Sad that people on this planet get kicks out of doing such a thing. Hope they find themselves someday in the same position as this creature did.

Mean people don’t care who or what they hurt, they derive pleasure from the suffering of innocents.

It’s just a stupid animal , there wasting Tons of money to house and feed that thing and we have people living on the streets and are out of work , there are real problems out there that we need to deal with. put that stupid animal back in the water for shark food and feed some homeless on our streets .
