Search Called Off For Possible Robbery Suspect

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A massive manhunt has been called off for a suspect connected to a possbile robbery in South Sacramento.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies scoured a neighborhood in the area around Chevy Chase Way and Bowling Drive which is near Florin Road and Highway 99 early this morning.

Officers were first called to the area around 4:30 a.m. by a homeowner who said they had been robbed at gunpoint.

Officers spotted a man riding a bike in the neighborhood and attempted to stop him but he rammed his bike into a patrol car and took off on foot.  The suspect then jumped a fence into the backyard of one of the homes. 

Deputies used a K9 officer to search the area and vehicles leaving the area.  Residents were also asked to stay inside if they did not have to leave for work or school.

After several hours, the search was called off.
