Roseville Mom Who Lost Son In Afghanistan Reacts To bin Laden's Death

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – The news of Osama bin Laden's death hits close to home for those who have lost loved ones in the war on terror.

A Roseville woman, Deborah Getz, who lost her son in Afghanistan said the news proves American military personnel who lost their lives did not die in vain.

Kristofer Thomas died in 2007 while fighting in Afghanistan, one of eight soldiers who died when a military helicopter crashed.

"It's easier to know that my son, both of my sons joined the military knowing what they were doing the man, I don't even want to call a man, the person that came in and attacked our country on 9/11 has not been killed, yes that's easier, and I believe Kristofer would be very proud," said Getz.

Thomas was the youngest army ranger in our nation's history, only 17 when he enlisted.

He's just one of nearly 1,500 of our military members who have died while serving in Afghanistan.
