Body Found After Modesto House Fire

MODESTO, Calif. (CBS13) -- Deputies are investigating a Modesto residence after a body was found inside following a house fire.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department said firefighters responded to the 1700 block of John Street at about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday to extinguish the blaze, finding an unidentified victim inside the home.

The body had been burned by the fire, but the cause of the death has not been determined.

Neighbors said the home was vacant, but a repairman lived in an RV on the property.
