SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Thousands of people in North Sacramento were without power this morning after a large power line fell possibly due to a transformer explosion.
The line went down at Grove Avenue and Hawthorne Street.
SMUD reported 24,000 customers were without power over a wide spread area including Arden and Carmichael after the 69,000 volt line went down.
St. Joseph’s Parish School sent home students for the day due to the power outage. Light Rail trains were delayed about 10 minutes.
SMUD says most customers were back on line by 10:00 a.m.
