Hit And Run Driver Hits Truck, Rolls Over Shearing Off Power Pole

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – A downed power pole is back up and electricity restored after a hit and run driver lost control early this morning, hit a truck, flipped over into a yard shearing off the power pole before taking off on foot.

The accident happened overnight at Coyle and Woodleigh Drive around 3:30 a.m.

A silver Pontiac clipped a truck, smashed through a fence, overturned shearing off a power pole and then erupted in flames.  The driver was somehow able to get out of the burning car through the passenger side window and took off.

SMUD says more than 350 homes were initially win the dark.  The road was closed for hours while crews worked to get dangling power lines out of the way and put in a new pole.
