Motorcycle Rear-Ends Patrol Car At On-Ramp

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital Monday afternoon after slamming into the back of a Sacramento County Sheriff's vehicle, authorities said.

The unmarked unit was waiting at a stoplight on the Mather Field on-ramp when a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle, propelling it and the cyclist into the deputy's vehicle.

The motorcyclist suffered serious head and leg injuries and was rushed to the hospital. His current condition is not known but officials said he was still conscious after the accident.

The deputy and the other driver were taken to the hospital to be checked out for minor injuries.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
