Police Searching For Getaway Car Used In Sacramento Murder

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento police are looking for the possible getaway car used in the shooting death of a local Sikh man.

53-year-old Balbir Dhami was shot to death on May 19th inside his home. His wife was also shot but survived.

Detectives believe Dhami and his wife were shot just inside their front door.  Detectives do not believe it was a random act, nor was it a hate crime.  Dhami was a convicted drug dealer awaiting sentencing.  However, detectives have not determined a motive for the murder at this time.

The suspect was described as a black male, short, thin build, short hair, wearing a yellow sweatshirt.

Sacramento police are looking for the suspect vehicle that was captured on surveillance video the day of the crime.  It's described as a 1990's 4-door gold Mazda Protégé or 323.

The Sacramento Police Department is asking anyone with information about this crime to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information.  Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
