Reward Being Offered In Case Of Missing California Nursing Student

HAYWARD, Calif. (AP) -- The family of a Northern California nursing student who disappeared during a break in class is offering $20,000 for information that leads to her safe return.

Michael Le, the brother of 26-year-old Michelle Le, announced the reward on Monday night, four days after his sister's disappearance from Kaiser Hospital in Hayward.

Hayward police say Le was last seen around 7 p.m. Friday as she headed to the parking garage at the hospital during a break in class. She never returned, and her car was later found a few blocks away. She had told classmates she planned to drive to Reno, Nev. after class to visit friends.

Hayward police Lt. Roger Keener says investigators have been working around the clock, but have not turned up any new leads. Calls to Le's cell phone have gone unanswered.

The case has prompted some to question if it is related to the disappearance of another nursing student.  Phuong Le who disappeared from a Fairfield book store more than a year ago.  Phuong Le's car was found in the parking lot.  A few weeks later, her body was found.  No one has been arrested.

Despite the similarities, Fairfield police say there is no connection between the two cases.
