Firefighters Mop Up After Fire Near Lake Isabella

KEYSVILLE, Calif. (AP) -- Kern County firefighters are in the final mop-up stages of a 150-acre fire that burned in brush around a network of abandoned gold miles near Lake Isabella.

Fire Department spokesman Sean Collins says the fire is 75 percent contained and half of the firefighting force has been released so only 150 firefighters remain.

The fire started Sunday and prompted some voluntary evacuations in the mountain community of Dutch John Flats. Collins says all evacuation orders have been lifted.

The weather was sunny, with clear skies, mild temperatures and a bit of wind.

Collins says the cause is still under investigation.
