Vandals Snatching Tea Party Political Signs

LOOMIS (CBS13) – A local woman and Tea Party activist says she is being targeted just for wanting to spread a message.

Debbie Shore has put up dozens of signs around the Loomis and Penryn area and finds days later they are all taken down.

“They are violating not only my freedom of speech but they are preventing other people from becoming educated,” Debbie Shore said. “It’s my constitutional right to say that. It’s my constitutional right to educate people and let them make their own decision. It’s not just about the signs.”

Shore says she just wants to give people information before they make an opinion.

The Tea Party Patriots group is making more signs and will continue to post them despite the thefts and requests to take them down.

Keep Loomis Weird!!! This reminds me of the time I stole a giant trunk full of Yes on 8 signs outside a polling place in Rocklin. Broad daylight…nobody stopped me. If you get approached by police just say you were in support of the cause but felt there was a more effective place for the signs and intended to move them. There is literally nothing they can do or say. Secondly, most cities have very clear rules about when political signs can appear and it’s usually something like within 90 days of a major election. I have to put my other thought in it’s own comment…

Very typical progressive behavior and attitude. We know what is best for you, we are helping the community, the means justify the ends, we know how to spend your hard earned money better than you. She is informing the community of a public meeting, I would even bet that she would take them down after the meeting, that is community minded and all I care about. I remember when Prop 8 was on the ballot and the signs were all being taken down from peoples “private property”, these are the same people with the same disdain for people who disagree with them. I found 50-60 of the prop 8 signs dumped behind the Elk Grove auto mall in a field. I would[‘t even think of taking down a sign of something I oppose.

My business includes right of way engineering, and it looks an awful lot like she’s putting private signage into a public traffic right of way. Traffic hazards may be removed by public works departments etc. A quick visit to the county parcel maps would set this problem to rest. No objection to signs on private property if they aren’t offensive.

Where in the constitution does it say anything about “right to educate people”?
She may have the right to offer information that is possibly educational but it is other peoples right to judge whether they want the information. If she is placing the signs in unauthorized places, then other people have the right to remove them. Everyone screams “their constitutional rights” and most like this lady have as much knowledge of the US Constitution as a dead skunk.
