Fatal Shooting At Carmichael Apartment Complex

CARMICHAEL, Calif. (CBS13) - A man has been killed overnight following a shooting at a Carmichael apartment.

Sheriff's deputies were called to an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Mazanita Avenue near Auburn Boulevard just after midnight.

When officers arrived they found a man in his 50's inside one of the apartments with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Another man who had been in the apartment says two men came to the door and when he answered he was knocked to the floor and held there by one suspect. The other suspect then went into another room and confronted the victim. The witness says he heard a gunshot and then the suspects ran.

The suspects, only described as two black men, one of whom was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, may have fled from the complex in a dark, smaller sedan-type vehicle.

The name of the victim has not been released.
