Fire Station Temporarily Closed In Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) — Sacramento County will temporarily close a firehouse after it made deep cuts to close their budget gap.

Sacramento Metro Fire put station 68 on Anatolia drive in Rancho Cordova on a brown out.

Firefighters say the closure will increase their response time from 5 minutes to 6.5 minutes.

The department will also take out an engine company in the Arden Arcade area.

Sacramento County and Sac Metro Fire are 2 separate entities, try getting your facts straight.

It’s a shame what is happening to our city.

Meanwhile, all efforts are focused on a new arena……

  3. Disgusted Retired FF says:

Sac Metro doesn’t cover Sacramento City, so the arena is a moot point in this discussion. However, adding additional ambulances (when they have a private provider already in place), a bulldozer, a second helicopter (when the first is not needed) seems stupid when closing engine companies.

  4. Terry Benevent says:

Fire Dept ambulances provide a revenue stream. It’s why the Fire Dept is adding them. They are also strategically placed in the fire houses and provide faster service than the privates. Sac Metro provides fire service to a large portion of Sacramento County.
