3 Dead After Probation Van Crashes

TIPTON, Calif. (AP) -- Three people are dead and seven others injured after a pickup truck collided with a Tulare County Probation Department van carrying juveniles.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday near Tipton. The California Highway Patrol says it appears the pickup, which was pulling a trailer, failed to stop at an intersection on Highway 190 and was struck by the van.

Several people in the van were ejected.

The fatalities were identified Wednesday as 37-year-old Juan Reyes, the truck driver, as well as 17-year-old Ingrid Coronel and 15-year-old Deshawn Moore, who were in the van. The van's driver and six other juvenile passengers suffered major injuries.

The juveniles were part of a community service work crew being transported back to the Probation Department after doing a cleanup project in Earlimart.
