SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A broken gas line forced the evacuation of a building in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood Tuesday.
Sixty people were evacuated from the Sacramento Food Bank in the area of 3308 33rd Avenue after a construction crew working on a new food bank building across the street punctured a two-inch gas line at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“The evening service is actually taking place at our off-site distribution facility. So we’re very, very fortunate no one is coming to this facility this evening,” says Kelly Siefkin, Communications Director for the food bank.
PG&E crews have since capped the leak.
