Fire Fighter Hurt Battling Sacramento House Fire

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS13) – A Sacramento fire fighter had to be taken to the hospital after being burned while battling a house fire that may have been sparked by a BBQ left on overnight.

Fire fighters were called to a home on the 2200 block of Tallac Street around 10:45 a.m.

The homeowner says she was getting ready for work when she heard the crackle and pop of a fire outside. She grabbed her phone and her dog and ran out of the home to call 911.

Fire fighters arrived to find flames engulfing the back of the home. The fire was so intense it caused the patio cover and part of the roof to collapse. One fire fighter was hit by burning debris and fell into the home's backyard pool. The fire fighter received minor burns and was taken to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

The homeowners believe they may have left their BBQ on overnight and that it may have sparked the fire.
