Former Inmate Arrested After Jumping Fence Onto Folsom Prison Property

FOLSOM, Calif. (CBS13) – A former inmate has been arrested on prison grounds after scaling a fence onto Folsom Prison property this morning.

Officers arrested 48-year-old Marvin Lane Ussery after he was found lying face down in tall grass near the prison recycling area nearly six hours after he was spotted hopping the prison fence.

At 1:30 a.m. sheriff's deputies stationed at Folsom Dam used night vision goggles to spot Ussery riding a bike up to the fence marking Folsom Prison property and then jumping over it. Prison officials were notified and immediately conducted a head count of inmates and found none missing.

Ussery is a parolee on active parole. He was incarcerated at the New Folsom prison on 2nd degree robbery charges until his parole in June 2009.

Officers are now searching the prison grounds for any contraband Ussery may have brought on the prison campus.

Ussery will be transported to the Sacramento County Jail later today.
