SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies say they know the identity of an armed suspect who took an SUV Wednesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to what was first reported as an armed carjacking at about 12:30 in the area of Watt Avenue and Whitney.

Deputies and the SWAT unit set up a perimeter in the area to search for the suspect and spotted the stolen car. The suspect then ran from the car carrying a gun.

Later, deputies learned it was not a carjacking and that the owner of the stolen Lincoln Navigator knows the suspect who took his car without authorization.

Deputies will continue to search for the suspect. They have not released his name.
