Former Boys Basketball Coach Facing More Child Porn Charges

SACRAMENTO (CBS 13) -- A former freshman high school basketball coach arrested in February for sexual assault on a juvenile is facing new counts of child pornography, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

During a court appearance for the February arrest, Melvin Flemings, 22, was re-arrested on numerous counts of child pornography. Flemings was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is being held on $500,000 bail.

Flemings was arrested Feb. 4 for charges related to the sexual assault of a teen boy whom Flemings coached. Flemings was previously employed as the freshman boys basketball coach at El Camino High School and has also coached AAU teams in the Sacramento area.

Since Flemings' arrest in February, detectives have continued to investigate and have found at least six more juvenile male victims, according to sheriff's spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos. Investigators discovered evidence of child pornography and sexual contact between Flemings and the victims, he said.

Detectives believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Anthony Brantley of the Sheriff's Department's Sexual Assault Bureau at (916) 874-5070.
