Man Victim Of Carjacking In Downtown Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A man's vehicle was carjacked at gunpoint in downtown Sacramento Wednesday morning, according to Sacramento police.

The incident took place at 7th and Merchant streets at about 11 a.m., according to Sgt. Andrew Pettit. The carjacked vehicle is a gray 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer the victim just bought about three months ago. After taking the Lancer, the gunman hit a minivan and then sped off, followed by a black Mercedes, Pettit said.

Officers were searching for both cars in the area but nothing turned up. The license plate of the stolen car is 6GJJ853. Police described the suspect as a male Hispanic, 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet, 2 inches, with slicked-back hair, wearing a hoodie and blue jeans.

"It's scary. I don't want to get shot over a car," the victim said.
