Sacramento City Council Approves Backyard Chickens

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramentans will be able to keep their chickens.

Tuesday night, Sacramento City leaders passed an ordinance allowing people to keep up to three chickens in their back yards.

No roosters would be allowed.

The birds would have to be in coops or cages at all times and would need to be at least 20 feet from neighboring homes.

The new ordinance goes into affect Nov. 1.
