Six Students Arrested After Fight On Sacramento-Area School Campus

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Six students have been arrested after a fight broke out on a Sacramento-area high school campus just before classes started Monday morning.

The brawl, which officials said turned into a 3-on-3 fist fight, broke out just before 8:0a.m. on the campus of Valley High School at 6300 Earhardt Avenue in Sacramento.

School officials say the fight involved six students and stemmed from an ongoing, off-campus dispute that spilled onto campus.

"It's been going on for a while," said Elk Grove Unified School District spokesperson Elizabeth Graswich. "We've been monitoring it. It hasn't spread to campus before now."

All six students have been arrested.

Police and deputies were called to help disperse the estimated 200 students who had been watching the fight.

One student and a teacher, who tried to break up the fight, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

In a letter being sent out to parents, the school district says it will have "additional law enforcement on campus before and after school in the coming weeks as an added precaution."

The school, which is part of the Elk Grove Unified School District, has a little over 1,500 students in attendance.
