Wheatland Woman Accused Of Lewd Conduct With Teen Boy

WHEATLAND (CBS13) -- A 38-year-old mother finds herself in legal trouble by what she allegedly did inside a Wheatland restaurant and bar.

Antoinette Clark molested a 15-year-old inside the restaurant's bathroom earlier this year and may have also had inappropriate sexual relations with a 17-year-old boy, according to Wheatland police.

"We are a very small community so there are a lot of rumors going on around town," Police Chief Michael McCrary said. "We want to get to it as quickly as we can and get the facts out."

He says it all started after Clark and the teen started talking outside Bill's Place, then went inside together along with some of the boy's friends.

She was arrested last week and booked into the Yuba County Jail, but was no longer in custody Monday, according to jail records.

McCrary said the investigation is ongoing.

"We are pretty confident we are going to seek a complaint with the district attorney on the 17-year-old as a victim," he said.

Clark's neighbors on are still in disbelief.

"I don't know what to think. I'm in shock," said one neighbor.

Another said the allegations don't fit the character.

"She seems like just a great mom. Everything she's ever done, she's always done in the best interest of the kids," the neighbor said.

"I can't get my brain around it, I can't. It's unbelievable."

Neighbors thought they knew the mom next door. They hope this is all a big misunderstanding. But they just want to know the truth.

"We need to figure out if she did it, because if she did, she needs to be punished," one woman said.

CBS13's Laura Cole did try to get in touch with Clark, but no one came to the door at her house Monday.
