Audio: The Don Geronimo Show - September 22, 2011

Today, Don starts by talking about the premiere of X Factor, specifically Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul, and the similarities and differences between X Factor and American Idol. The guys also discuss the season premieres that are airing this evening. Don also decided to liquidate his fantasy football team, after an 0-2 start, which begins a discussion not only on fantasy football, but on Deaf Don and Blind Neal, who are both in the league. This sends the guys off on a tangent about deaf people driving. A call from a regular listener who apparently isn't happy with the content sends the show sideways, until Don gets the show back on track with none other than dolphin sex! Don plays a clip of a man in Punta Gorda, Florida, who has written a book about having a sexual relationship with a dolphin. The guys return to this subject numerous times throughout the show.

Don then interviews comedian Darrell Hammond, who talks about his new book, "God, If You're Not Up There, I'm F***ed", his days on SNL, and the comedians who went out of their way to help him out on his way up. The guys then get back into X Factor, playing clips from last night's premiere. We also get the latest issue of Sacramento News & Review, which has just released their "Best Of Sacramento" issue, and Don's show is #3 in the "Best Local Radio Show" category. The guys then return to dolphin sex.

The unhappy caller from earlier stops by and drops off booze and cigarettes for the guys, in an apparent good will gesture, and Don then plays a CD he got years ago of jingle demos, as KHTK will be getting new jingles in the near future. One of the tracks has Don's favorite program director, Scott Shannon. We then get into the "Phantom News Hour." Today, Phantom talks about the GOP debate tonight, TV ratings from the past week, and Minka Kelly getting butt slapped. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
