Empire Teen Killed In Reported Gang Shooting

EMPIRE (CBS13) -- A 16-year-old boy from Riverbank was shot and killed in what detectives are calling a gang shooting in Empire on Sunday night, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.

Deputes responded to a 911 call of shots fired in the 5100 block of Inland Avenue. They found Rosendo Robles inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a Modesto hospital, where he later died.

Robles and two other 17-year-old teens were driving around Empire when their car was shot multiple times by an unknown suspect on Inland Avenue, according to the sheriff's office. Robles and a second teen were struck by the gunfire. The second teen's injuries were non-life-threatening and the third occupant was not injured.

The two other boys fled the scene, but the one with the gunshot wound was found nearby and the third teen was located in Empire.

The driver of the vehicle was able to make it to Estates Drive and crashed into a car parked on the side of the road.

Detectives are trying to determine what led up to the shooting. They do not have suspect but are investigating this as a gang-related homicide.
