Police released surveillance video showing an unidentified person of interest in a Davis robbery attempt.
DAVIS (CBS13) — Police are hoping that a person of interest spotted in a Target store the day before a destructive smash-and-grab attempt can lead detectives to the culprits.
The Davis Police Department said surveillance video shows a white male in his mid 20s entering the victimized store on May 21, just hours before two men crashed a pickup truck into the store in a failed attempt to steal an ATM.
The suspects fled when they were unable to pull the cash machine out of the wall, leaving behind the truck and more than $100,000 in damage to the store. The truck had been reported stolen from a landfill north of Davis.
The person of interest was wearing a checkered shirt, blue jeans, baseball cap and sunglasses and may have been “casing” the Target in anticipation of the heist, authorities said. The man may also have purchased equipment used in the robbery.
Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to contact the Davis Police Department at (530) 747-5400.
