Pallas Hupé To Leave CBS13

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - CBS13 General Manager Kevin Walsh today formally announced that Pallas Hupé, co-anchor of the CBS 13 News at 5, 6 and 10 p.m., will be leaving the television station effective Friday October 14th, 2011 to join her husband as he pursues new career opportunities.

"I've spent 20 years in broadcasting, and what a fitting way to cap off my career here in this wonderful community." said Hupé. "This is an extraordinary opportunity to be with my 10 and 13 year old boys while I still can."

Hupé adds: "We have loved living in the Sacramento area; it's been a warm and welcoming home. I'll miss it, and the support and enthusiasm of our CBS13 viewers."

As she exits, CBS13 General Manager Kevin Walsh commented: "When people leave our station, I always want to make sure it's for the right reasons. With Pallas, it's clear that she's making this difficult decision in the best interest of her family, and that's gratifying." He adds: "Pallas has been a strong source of encouragement for some of our younger staff. She leads by example."

Joining CBS13 in 2006, Hupé has been involved in the definition, development and creation of the CBS 13 News. "When I arrived," said Hupé, "we worked on a temporary set in what's now the Good Day Sacramento studio. There were wires and cables hanging from the ceiling, like a warehouse. What a long way we've come!"

On her departure, CBS13 News Director Cameryn Beck says: "It is always tough to lose a member of the family, and Pallas is no exception. She has been an invaluable member of the team, a guiding force in the newsroom, and a good friend. We wish her the very best."

The search for Mrs. Hupé's replacement is in progress.

CBS13 (KOVR-TV) and CW31 (KMAX-TV) are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
