VACAVILLE (CBS13) — Two men who have home daycare centers were arrested within a day of each other for allegedly molesting children, but investigators said the arrests are unrelated.

The Vacaville Police Department said 61-year-old George Paul Gauci was arrested at his home on Woodhaven Drive on Tuesday for three felony counts related to the alleged sexual assault of a child under the age of 10. The alleged victim was a 9-year-old girl whom Gauci is accused of touching inappropriately a little more than a year ago.

Gauci runs a daycare center out of his home, but authorities have not said whether the alleged victim was a child being cared for at his home. Gauci has been a licensed daycare provider since 1994, according to the state Department of Social Services, but neighbors tell CBS13 that he has another job and that his wife runs the daycare. The state Department of Social Services has since suspended operations at the daycare.

In the unrelated case, authorities arrested 31-year-old Shane David Parks on Monday a single count of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age. The alleged victim was a 5-year-old boy whom Parks is accused of touching inappropriately last month.

Parks’ wife, Jennifer, has been licensed to run their daycare since 2007, the state said, and he is listed as an associate.

Neither suspect responded to requests for comment from CBS13.

Social Services has launched its own investigation into both daycare operations.

Gauci and Parks both were booked into Solano County Jail and then released after posting bail.

dont you parents look into who are watching your kids ? I will bet these two have never had a background check by the county…..not that that always works but it’s a start,, Im sure these two brothers have a past….but they dont have a future…… hope someone takes them out and burns them out

    1. Matt says:

brothers? How do you even know they are guilty? Pretty judgemental considering no facts or evidence have been laid out.

  2. gary says:

How does this keep happening? I had kids in day care and my wife and I personally checked out and talked to, everyone that would have contact with the kids. If it didn’t feel right (and it didn’t a couple of times), we left, period, no explanation. We also made “unexpected” got off work early visits at random intervals. Protect your children people, the little ones can’t do it.

  3. WTH says:

I wouldn’t let two men that look like that baby sit my dog – let alone any child. GOOD-GRIEF PEOPLE!

    1. rmcsticks says:

WTH , you are so right, what could these parents be thinking….

  4. Vacaville CA says:

What happened in innocent until proven guilty and don’t judge a book by its cover. I know one of these men and would not be so quick to judge.

    1. Reply this says:

Would you leave your child with that man you know to babysit now?

    2. Laura says:

I agree, Vacaville, now that the names have been given out….they will never be found innocent. We live in a messed up news situation….and it won’t change until something really close to home happens, like a news person is considered to have committed a crime against a child like this. Some countries have put into the law that the names shall not be released until after the trial, but we don’t have that here…. sad 😦

      1. Anyone says:

If convicted it doesn’t matter. If found not guilty then yes it is sad but it would be almost impossible to keep names out of the media until after trial for all crimes. The innocent until proven guilty is for the justice system not the court of public opinion.

      2. Laura says:

………….And IF found innocent it does matter. You are aware that you left out that “little” detail in your post, right? What do you think about that minor detail? And some other country/ies have found a way to do it, so it’s not really almost impossible—we could do it, if it mattered to enough people. And the public is where juries come from, right? It would save a lot of time and money if the trial could be local instead of out of town because of too much publicity.

What everyone constantly over looks is the simple fact that you cannot tell if a some one is a molester by looking at them, if they do not have a criminal record how do you know? You have know choice but to pray that your instincts keep you away from these predators!!

The Parents who leave their child with strangers (Male run daycare centers), to baby sit should be slapped till their jaws break. This is bad parenting. I am like a shadow on my kids…I don’t trust ANYONE.
I don’t want any MAN near my child I will definitely rearrange their faces.

    1. Anyone says:

Yeah, yeah…big talker but your statement is ignorant.

  7. Wake-up Cali says:

How stupid to single out the men. Most child sexual abuse is committed by men; however women commit 14% to 40% of offenses reported against boys and 6% of offenses reported against girls. We cannot tell by gender, race, looks, family or friends. This is terrible thing happening to children however in most cases you cannot blame the parents for not being able to predict it or prevent it. I believe most parent would not put their children in harm’s way knowingly but it is still happening because the offenders are very good at hiding this part of their lives and most seen like normal people on the surface.

My God, what in the world is wrong with people…???

I was molested many, many times as a child and it has left me with many emotional scars, and I am a Senior Citizen now…

To molest a child in any way, is totally unforgivable. What these men have done is take away their childhood. They are no longer children.

To anyone who is reading this…. If you have ever in your life, molested a chld in any way, you need to seek help before it is to late. For one day, you will be standing before whatever God you worship, and then you will have to face your crimes.

Now, I have forgiven the person who molested me, but have never forgiven the act… I hope that when I do pass away, that I meet up with that person, and I would like to have a very long discussion with that person.

Men & Women Equally are able to commit this type of crime. And, both boys & girls are potential targets, from either Sex, Men or Women.

Please, know who you leave your children with. Know your Babysitters. Know your neighbors. And, know your own Relatives.

If for one second, you don’t feel comfortable with someone, that is usually an indication that you need to either stay away from that person, or study that person a little bit more before giving your friendship and or trust.

I hope that one day, whatever afflicts these people, they will find a cure. Until then, just be aware and be safe.

    Happy Halloween

Doesn’t matter how well you think you know a person. A Creep is a Creep.

  10. Laura says:

Imagine them getting the doors slammed in their faces! Who’d think they would do that to a news crew? :O Major DUH!

  11. Laura says:

OK, they’ve already been found “guilty” now let’s see what the evidence is? :O

  12. Moderate Sense says:

I wonder why this media outlet doen’t post my anti-molester comments?
