Two Vacaville Men With Home Daycares Arrested On Molestation Charges

VACAVILLE (CBS13) -- Two men who have home daycare centers were arrested within a day of each other for allegedly molesting children, but investigators said the arrests are unrelated.

The Vacaville Police Department said 61-year-old George Paul Gauci was arrested at his home on Woodhaven Drive on Tuesday for three felony counts related to the alleged sexual assault of a child under the age of 10. The alleged victim was a 9-year-old girl whom Gauci is accused of touching inappropriately a little more than a year ago.

Gauci runs a daycare center out of his home, but authorities have not said whether the alleged victim was a child being cared for at his home. Gauci has been a licensed daycare provider since 1994, according to the state Department of Social Services, but neighbors tell CBS13 that he has another job and that his wife runs the daycare. The state Department of Social Services has since suspended operations at the daycare.

In the unrelated case, authorities arrested 31-year-old Shane David Parks on Monday a single count of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age. The alleged victim was a 5-year-old boy whom Parks is accused of touching inappropriately last month.

Parks' wife, Jennifer, has been licensed to run their daycare since 2007, the state said, and he is listed as an associate.

Neither suspect responded to requests for comment from CBS13.

Social Services has launched its own investigation into both daycare operations.

Gauci and Parks both were booked into Solano County Jail and then released after posting bail.
