FBI Searching For 'Dust Mask Bandit'

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The FBI and local law enforcement agencies are looking for a bank robber dubbed the "Dust Mask Bandit" who has hit at least five banks in Northern California and one in Oregon.

The suspect most recently robbed a credit union in McKinleyville on October 20 where he brandished a gun and got away with undisclosed amount of money.

An officer in the area chased the suspect who fled in a green, newer model Mazda. The suspect eventually abandoned the car and fled on foot. Officers from the Humbloldt County Sheriff's Office, Department of Fish and Game, Arcata Police and CHP searched for the suspect but could not find him.

The FBI believes the same suspect is linked to the followings bank robberies:

• Coast Central Credit Union in Arcata, CA on September 7, 2011.
• Bank of America in Yreka, CA on September 1, 2011.
• Coast Central Credit Union in McKinleyville, CA on August 12, 2011.
• Chetco Federal Credit Union in Smith River, CA on July 8, 2011.
• Home Federal Bank in Grants Pass, Oregon on July 5, 2011.

The suspect is described as a white man in is 30's, about 5' 5" tall and weighing between 180 to 200 pounds. He has brown hair and usually wears a dust mask covering his face. He brandished a gun in all of the bank robberies except one.
