Sacramento Airport Raising Parking Fees

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Just a few weeks removed from its opening of a $1 billion new terminal, the Sacramento International Airport announced Wednesday that it is increasing its parking fees and all but its Economy lot.

The maximum daily rate for parking at the airport will increase $2 beginning Sunday.

The increase does not affect regular hourly rates or the Economy lot.

The new maximum rates will be as follows:

  • Hourly Garage: $31 (an increase from $29)
  • Hourly Surface Lot: $29 (an increase from $27)
  • Daily Garage: $17 (an increase from $15)
  • Daily Surface Lot: $15 (an increase from $13)
  • The maximum daily rate at the Economy lot will remain at $9. Hourly charges will remain $2 per half-hour.

The maximum rate applies to visitors who park longer than three hours in a daily lot or five hours in an hourly lot.

Drivers waiting to pick people up can also access the airport's free lot. It is located near the Interstate 5 entrance/exit with access to both terminals and portable toilets. Drivers using the free area can stay for up to three hours. The vehicle must be attended at all times.

The airport said its parking rates have not changed since 2008, when the current increase was approved by the Board of Supervisors.

Terminal B opened Oct. 6. after more than three years of construction.
