'Occupy Sacramento' Lawyers File Federal Lawsuit Against City
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Lawyers for "Occupy Sacramento" have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city of Sacramento.
The lawsuit contends the First Amendment free assembly rights of protestors are being violated because they are not being allowed to gather in Cesar Chavez Park past 11:00 p.m.
Sacramento Police have arrested 79 protesters for refusing to leave the park since the Occupy Sacramento movement began on Oct. 6.
Lawyers are also asking for a temporary restraining order to stop police from arresting more protesters.
A news conference about the lawsuit is scheduled for 2pm.
