Burglary Suspect Arrested After Leaving Behind Cell Phone

STOCKTON (CBS13) -- Police said a burglary suspect made it easy to track him down within hours of breaking into a North Stockton home when he left his cell phone at the scene of the crime.

The Stockton Police Department said they arrested 27-year-old Nicholas Burton Riisager was arrested at his home Wednesday after being found in possession of a number of stolen items.

Riisager allegedly stole hundreds of dollars worth of valuables from a home but left his cell phone behind in one of the residence's bedrooms, leading police straight to his front door.

"I took a quick glance and noticed a white phone right there and told the cop," said the homeowner's son, who asked not to be identified. "I'm just thankful he left some kind of evidence for us to catch him."

Stockton officers said they recovered the stolen property from Riisager's home and will return the valuables to the victims.

"We always appreciate any help that a suspect can give us," said Stockton Police Officer Pete Smith.

Riisager is being charged with felony burglary and is in custody on $50,000 bail.
