High Winds Blamed For Blaze That Destroyed Home

NAPA (AP) — High winds in the San Francisco Bay Area are being blamed for at least one wildfire as a red flag warning remains in effect through mid-morning.

Firefighters on Wednesday continued to battle a 90-acre grass fire in Napa County that destroyed a house and another building and forced the evacuation of about two dozen homes.

Power lines downed by strong gusts may have sparked the blaze Tuesday night. No injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning through 9 a.m. cautioning of fire danger north and east of the bay.

Winds up to 40 mph knocked down trees overnight, damaging cars. Some Berkeley residents lost electricity when gusts brought down power lines.
